Question

Can I prevent a passport being issued in the name of a child under 16?

Answer

If you, as a parent or legal guardian, are concerned for the safety of your child or you fear that an unauthorized passport application may be made on behalf of your child, you can request that your child's information be added to the Passport Canada System Lookout List. This entry will alert staff that further attention is required when processing the child's application to ensure all legal documents are reviewed, that there are no restrictions on the child's mobility, or that there is no other reason that would prevent a Canadian passport being issued in the name of the child.
